LOCATION

Kilometer 32.5,  Carretera Tulum-Punta Allen, 77087,  Tulum, México.

Tulum,

Quintana Roo, Mexico

Getting here means moving across the beautiful peninsula of Sian Ka’an. It’s about a two hour drive from Tulum to Dharma over a dirt road, of which the condition varies.

We lovingly call it The Ride/Rite of Passage.

ABOUT THE AREA

Sian Ka'an Biosphere

The Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve is a wondrous area home to thousands of species of flora and fauna. Measuring half a million hectares and covering all possible scenarios: Tropical forests, mangroves, marshes, palm savannah, natural well and coral reef beaches.

It creates a living place for a wide array of animals: Jaguars, crocodiles, pumas, ocelots, tapirs, dolphins, iguana’s, gecko’s are only a few to name. In the sky you can find over 300 species of birds flying, including pelicans and vultures.

Sian Ka’an is the biggest protected area in the Mexican Caribbean and the third biggest Biosphere of Mexico. The name comes from the indigeous people who called it Sian Ka’an, meaning ‘Where the sky is born’. And was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986.

Our refuge is near the Mayan Ruins of Tulum. Designated as one of the most important Mayan astrological sites in Mexico. The only archaeological site that sits on the seashore is located on a cliff facing the Caribbean Sea. It is the most photogenic site in the region and perhaps the whole country.

Under the cliff is Paradise beach, considered one of the best beaches in the Riviera Maya, from which excursions are organized to the famous Mesoamerican Reef Barrier.

Dharma is found deeper into the magnificent Reserve of Sian Ka’an. An ideal place to relax, reconnect and heal on the beach surrounded by a lush jungle. Mornings are great for mindfulness practice, kayak along the reefs to observe marine life or stroll along the white sandy beaches while in wonder the land.
